How To Lower Your Google Analytics Bounce Rate


Previously I wrote a post entitled What Is the Google Analytics Bounce Rate? As the title may imply, this post explains how the Google Analytics measures the bounce rate of visitors to your site. In that post I also stated that I would write a post on how you can lower your Google Analytics bounce rate. In this post I will touch on a few simple fixes that I have found that you can apply immediately to lower your bounce rate at your site.

Most bloggers know that writing engaging posts that can keep your reader interested will make them want to know more about what other knowledge you may have to offer. Keeping your content fresh, entertaining and informational are some of the most obvious ways to lower your bounce rate. Besides site content, I stated that there were some “quick fixes” that you could implement immediately. Most of these techniques have to do with simple plugins you can easily install into you blogs.

The first plugin is called the Related Post plugin. The Related Post plugin allows posts that are similar to the one being read to show up at the bottom of that post page. By using this feature, it will give your reader more related content to on what they were looking for and keeps them on your site. A good example of this is when you are watching a youtube video and you see all the other videos at the side. Many times those other videos are clicked hence keeping visitors on the site for a longer period of time.

Another great plugin is called Popularity Contest. This plugin will show your most popular site posts in the sidebar. You simply install this plugin and it creates a widget that is placed in your sidebar, it then ranks your most popular posts by percentages.

A final plugin is the My Top Commentators plugin. This plugin also creates a widget that is placed in your sidebar that shows your most frequent people that comment on your blog. People love to get traffic for their own blog; therefore many strive to be a top commentator on others blogs. By using the My Top Commentator plugin it not only keeps them there longer due to the comment they make, but in many cases causes them to return to be the top commentator.

One final way to lower your bounce rate that does not use a plugin is by using internal linking. By linking to a previous post, such as I did in this post, within a post will keep visitors on your site longer as well. By doing this you cause the visitor to read what you have written in the other posts to get a full overview of what the current post is about.
These are some very simple techniques but you should not underestimate them. By putting these practices in place you can improve not only your readers’ visits but also lower your bounce rate at the same time.

    I would say that we should use correct keywords in our title tag too.If title tags go unrelated with the content of the page then also the bounce rate increases.
