MLM Verses Internet Marketing

After being involved in MLM companies for 13 years, it was very refreshing to enter the internet marketing world. That is not to say it was an easy transition, but it was a new way of making money and assisting others from the comfort of my home.

The MLM companies that I worked were all very good and this post is by no means a bash on the MLM industry. I like many of the companies’ products and many of the individuals that work those companies.

I have often heard many times when an individual has not achieved anything in an MLM company that it was a bad company, but the majority of the time this not the case. The individual may not have had the right personality or drive for the company or the MLM industry.

I will focus on the personality needed for the MLM industry. In most MLM companies you need to be a bit outgoing. You need to develop a group and then mentor, teach, and train them. If a person does not have a leadership type personality, you can obviously see why he or she may not succeed in a MLM company.

In Internet Marketing, in some cases, you need to have a leadership personality to some degree, but do not need to be as outgoing as in MLM. You need to establish yourself online, but you can communicate via email and at times through phone (if necessary) to reach some element of success. Depending on what you are doing in Internet Marketing you may not need to have a leader type personality at all.

Also, with MLM I noticed that you work harder to make less then you would internet marketing. This may not be true for everyone, but it was for me, and many others I have spoken with.

I am still involved with MLM companies; however I currently do not put any active effort to them. If I found one I liked with a great product, I may enroll for product sake. However, spending my time trying to get people to purchase the next big pill, potion, or lotion, is just not me.

When evaluating a MLM company there are many things you will want to consider but first and foremost I would recommend considering yourself. What kind of personality type do you have and do you prefer to be a leader in front of the world, or a leader behind the screen? If behind the screen is the answer, I would recommend looking or staying in internet marketing and finding your niche.
